Artist Statement
The rustling of the forest, the blowing of the wind, the sunlight that hits my eyes, the texture of the fabrics, the lumps of paint, and the colors....It’s the whole presence, the sensation of sureness, and the ambience that I'd like to depict. Paying attention to the characteristics of each material, I hand-dye the cloths and often double-layer them. It’s a constant repetition of choice and retouch in order for me to create a harmony between their unique feature and quality. The end images that physically emerge from the lumps of fabrics and paints produce a certain sense of light and air surrounding the flowers.
