At first glance, all you see is the color and decorative elements. Most of my recent works depict somewhat figurative objects, and yet they seem to be lacking the main motif that should be the focus of the painting. While I abstract the images so that the audience won’t get caught up by their initial impressions, I try to avoid creating pure abstractions. Instead, I leave traces of the motif, eliminate the order of importance in each context, and treat them on the same level. In my work, I hide and superimpose "visible" or "recognizabley images, change the size of them, and increase or decrease the number of strokes of the paint brush. On top of that, there are various contradictory elements such as tactile colors and textures, and distinctive decorative patterns, which all confront or merge to create a single painting.
