これまで、社会性に隠れている側面やあり得なかった光景に興味があり、現実と虚構の間で揺れるイメージを絵具と筆の駆け引きによってどこまで描けるのか追求を続けてきました。描いている少女や動物、着ぐるみ、石膏像などは、社会的に未分化な存在として捉えており、それらのみでは関係性が成り立たない立場の存在が光景に現れることで生まれる、イメージの歪みを絵画の重要な要素として考えています。また同時に、油絵制作を続けていく上で西欧の伝統的な題材を再考する一方で、絵巻物などの日本伝統文化に見られる複数の時系列が同居する俯瞰的視点や花鳥風月の主題を絵画の構図に取り入れることで、永遠性の獲得ではなく、日常の事象が展開していく、時間性をともなった絵画上の物語のあり方に関心を寄せています。
Until now, I have been interested in aspects hidden behind sociality and scenes beyondimagination, and have been exploring how far I can depict theoscillating images between reality and fiction through the interaction of paintand brushes. I considergirls, animals, costumes, plaster statues, and other elements in my paintings associally undifferentiated entities. Due to their incapability to form relationships with others solely by themselves, there is a distortion of images, which is essential elementin my painting.
At the sametime, as I have continued painting, I reexamineWestern traditional themes while incorporating an overarching perspective foundin Japanese traditional culture, such as emakimono (painted handscrolls), wheremultiple timelines coexist, and includingthemes such asthe beauty of nature (flowers, birds, wind, and moon) into the composition ofmy paintings. In doing so, my interest lies not in achieving eternity but inexploring the narrative of events in everyday life unfolding with a sense oftemporality in the paintings.
